Re-elect Corey Ragsdale, District 4 County Commissioner

Cherokee County Issues

Tax Rates

In Cherokee County, we have one of the lowest tax burdens in the entire state of Georgia. This is due to our phenomenal executive team as well as the leadership of the Board of Commissioners. The Board of Commissioners has to do what is right for the citizens of Cherokee - I will ensure Cherokee County continues to have one of the lowest tax rates in Georgia.

Land Use

One of the biggest responsibilities a commissioner has is guiding development and land use decisions in the county. My plan has been, and always will be, to attract developments that are a positive mixture of uses that benefit the county.  Possibly the greatest land use issue in the county today is affordability.  I am currently working on and will continue to purse ordinances and regulations that will improve affordability in Cherokee County.

Public Safety

Our Public Safety departments are highly ranked in the state and nationally recognized. Fire and EMS, the Marshal’s Office and the Sheriff’s Office are all great assets to Cherokee County. The Board of Commissioners is responsible for funding these departments and providing them with what they need to run smoothly. I fully support our public safety departments and want to see them grow!

Parks & Recreation

One of the greatest needs we have in District 4 is more parks and recreation options. In my first term as commissioner, we developed the SW Cherokee Parks and Trails plan and, in my current term, we have begun executing that plan by starting Woodworth park on Hwy 92. Parks and Recreation will continue to be a focus area for me and I plan to push forward with expanding additional park sites in District 4.

Roads

Infrastructure needs are growing in Cherokee County. With our increased development and increasing population, our roads and other infrastructure are struggling to keep up. Thanks to the voters, we recently passed a TSPLOST resolution that will greatly improve our ability to complete the necessary road projects throughout the county.

COED

The County Office of Economic Development (COED) is one of the most important operations the county has. Furthering our economic development efforts will bring jobs into the county, bring businesses into the county and ultimately add significant value to the tax base. This increase in economic activity lowers the tax burden on the citizens of Cherokee County.
